Evaluation Question Three

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

This question meant that I had to look at all the feedback that I had been given and from all the forms which it was put across to me throughout the year. I also had to look at how this had helped me throughout the creation of my three media products.

  • Initial Interviews - This helped me to realise what people thought makes a trailer as scary as it could possibly be. The information which I had acquired included that of anticipation, the pace which music should be and the codes and conventions.
  • Questionnaires - These were handed out in the classroom and to other non media students around college to get a collection of ideas and a range of opinions. It helped me to see what the typical codes and conventions of a horror trailer are, and what makes a horror trailer successful. This therefore allowed me to branch out with my ideas and start plotting.
  • Horror Analysis - I posed the question to on my facebook site, after I had decided to look at existing horror media for inspiration, in regards to my trailer. This was helpful as my facebook friends then told me what the best films are to look at for horror, I therefore took inspiration from them in regards to sound.
  • Name Ideas - After being split between The Retribution, Mindplay and No Escape I posted the question of what name would compliment a possession storyline best, and then listed the options onto twitter. I had replies instantly, telling me that The Retribution would have been the peoples choice.
  • Teacher Feedback - This was greatly helpful throughout the whole of the year as it was great to get a second opinion on some of my ideas. I also discussed ideas with my teacher and how I could broaden them to make them better, it was good as it was from a more experienced perspective.
  • Trailer Feedback - After the trailer was shown in a class session I received information on the strengths and areas for improvement. The feedback was very helpful and reassuring as it allowed me to that they understood the narrative, being told to made improvements in regards to more footage also helped greatly as it was an outsiders opinion from my group.
  • Final Amendments - After I thought that I had completed my poster and magazine, I posted them to my BBM contacts and asked what amendments could have been made. This was greatly helpful as I could get a non media student, who would have also been our target audiences opinion on what could have been changed. This was immensely helpful as I thought it helped me add a more professional look to the ending product from the feedback I was given.
  • Poster and Magazine Feedback - This was given to me in the class sessions by members of my media class. They commented on what they thought the narrative was and the strengths and areas for improvements could have been, this was great as it showed me how I could better my media productions.
