Research and Planning: Soundtrack to Inspire

The non diegetic sound which begins this trailer, is very similar to how I see the sound on my trailer being. The pianos being at a very slow pace I think create a great sense of suspense, I also think that just having the pianos is a great effect, due to not having too many instruments, it stops the trailer becoming distracting and causes the audience to focus on what's happening on screen. As oppose to the sound and what's happening outside of the narrative. On this trailer the beginning of the sound only lasts a few seconds and then cuts straight into dialogue, this however is something that I will try to avoid doing, due to the length of this trailer being a lot longer than my teaser trailer is going to be. The non diegetic mood music then continues on, once again sticking to a piano however this time it is a much higher note, throughout this trailer it is stereotypical horror sounds, my inspiration can come from this, when thinking of a piano and the decision of which keys I will choose to play and which is most suiting to my specific genre and narrative. The higher percentage of sound from this trailer comes from the dialogue, I won't be using this as our trailer is only a teaser trailer and we have chosen to stick too more non diegetic sound, as in our opinion it is a lot more creepy. Overall I think the best things to take inspiration from in regards to this trailer, would be the lack of instruments to create a better effect, and the diegetic sounds used including the screams and the radio, again stereotypical conventions for a horror genre.
